Supported Meal and Snack Groups

A lot of people say, “eating disorders thrive in isolation,” and that’s true for so many of us. Many of us have found that the isolation brought on by the COVID-19 pandemic has lead to increased struggles with food and eating.

Virtual supported meal and snack groups provide an opportunity for folks struggling with disordered eating to connect, share a meal or snack in community, and support one another in recovery. Meal and snack support groups can also be helpful for folks who are looking for accountability around completing meals and snacks.

While our supported meal and snack groups are facilitated by a licensed therapist, they are not therapy groups. Instead, the supported meal groups are peer-support groups. The focus is on connection, community, and peer support.

Virtual supported meal and snack groups are open to adults 18 and up who struggle with disordered eating. This includes folks who have eating disorders, as well as folks with other mental health conditions that may impact their relationship with food, such as folks with depression and ADHD. The group operates from anti-oppressive, harm-reduction, and health at every size (HAES) frameworks.

Expressive Arts Groups

Healing happens in relationships. Expressive arts groups can provide opportunities for you to connect with others and be seen for who you really are.

Expressive arts brings in lots of different kinds of creative expression. It can involve visual arts like painting, collage, or sculpture, but it can also involve music, dance, drama, poetry, play, and other creative processes. Creative expression can be an incredibly powerful approach to coping with distress and expressing our emotions.

In an expressive arts group, participants have the opportunity to engage in creative processes together in community. Groups may involve time for individual creation followed by group discussion, or they may involve collaborative processes, such as group art projects or drama therapy activities, or they may be a mix of both.
